DAAD 2027

onSET in Indonesia and Vietnam: DAAD deadline on 21 October, test centres and a 2-week plan

In Indonesia and Vietnam, the DAAD deadline for STEM master’s scholarships is 21 October 2026. If you want to study in German, you have two weeks left for proof of German. The onSET can make it, if you book a date now.

The deadline: 21 October 2026

The scholarship databases of the DAAD offices in Jakarta and Hanoi give 21 October 2026 for STEM master’s scholarships. We did not find a deadline there for the general master’s scholarships in all subjects, so check your office’s page.

For programmes taught in German, the DAAD usually lists TestDaF, DSH, DSD, Goethe-Zertifikat, ÖSD, telc Deutsch and onSET Deutsch. Many STEM master’s programmes are taught in English; then you prove English and do not need the onSET.

Where to take the onSET

Indonesia: Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (Bandung), Universitas Indonesia (Depok), Goethe-Institut (Jakarta), Universitas Negeri Malang (Malang), Wisma Jerman (Surabaya), Studienkolleg Indonesia (Serpong), Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (Yogyakarta).

Vietnam: Vietnamese-German Centre, HUST (Hanoi), Goethe-Institut (Hanoi), Vietnamese-German University (Binh Duong), Goethe-Institut (Ho Chi Minh City).

These names come from the official centre list (checked 6 October 2026). Each centre sets its own dates and fees. With two weeks to the deadline, contact one today.

What costs Indonesian and Vietnamese speakers points

Neither Indonesian nor Vietnamese has grammatical gender, case endings or verbs that change with the person. In a C-Test, though, the missing half is often exactly that ending: der, dem, den, ein schönes, wir gehen. It is new, and it is where most points are lost.

With little time, skip new vocabulary and focus on articles with gender, the four cases after prepositions and present-tense verb forms. And practise ä, ö, ü and ß on your keyboard, because a missing umlaut earns no point.

Two weeks to 21 October

Day 1: a free C-Test as your baseline, and ask a test centre for a date. Days 2–5: gender and articles, present tense, two or three texts a day. Days 6–9: cases after prepositions and adjective endings, texts with the five-minute timer.

Days 10–12: one half and one full simulation, then only your weakest topics. Day 13: two easy texts, then rest. With fewer than twelve days left, the study plan switches to the 7-day plan by itself.
