Studienkolleg entrance exam 2027: dates and deadlines

Entrance exams for the summer semester 2027 run from 9 January to 25 February 2027, and some application windows already close in October 2026. Many Studienkollegs test German with a C-Test: practising the format now leaves enough time before January.

What the entrance exam tests

Almost every Studienkolleg tests German, and many add maths or a subject test for the course you choose. The German part is often a C-Test: short texts in which, from the second sentence on, every second word is missing its second half. Some combine it with listening, writing or grammar tasks.

To apply at all, Studienkollegs usually ask for a certificate such as B1. Frankfurt, for example, lists Zertifikat B1, TestDaF 4x3, telc B1 or a completed B2 course.

How to prepare by January

  1. Now: take the placement test and see which text level you handle and which grammar costs you points.
  2. October to November: cases, articles, adjective endings and verb forms, with two or three C-Test texts a day.
  3. December: texts with the five-minute limit and half simulations; review mistakes by grammar area.
  4. January: full simulations and your Studienkolleg’s own sample tasks; practise maths and subject tests with its material.

What onSET Prep covers

onSET Prep trains the C-Test: texts from A1 to B2, grammar lessons for every gap type and timed simulations. We are not a Studienkolleg and do not know their exam texts; practise maths, listening and writing with each Studienkolleg’s own material.
